5Haupt-Volksversammlung; von den Vorsitzenden leitete die Abstimmung Sostratos
6S.d. Kallistratos aus dem Demos Erchia und seine Mitvorsitzenden. Beschluss des
7Volkes; Chremonides S.d. Eteokles aus dem Demos Aithalidai stellte den Antrag: Da
8früher die Athener und die Lakedaimonier und die Bundesgenossen
9von beiden (Städten) Freundschaft und gemeinsame Bundesgenossenschaft
10miteinander eingegangen sind und viele und ehrenhafte Kämpfe geführt haben
11zusammen gegen jene, die die Städte zu knechten sich unter-
12fingen, woraus sie sich selbst Ruhm erworben und den übrigen
13Greichen die Freiheit verschafft haben; und jetzt, da eine ähnliche
14Situation ganz Griechenland erfasst hat durch diejenigen, die
15sich unterfangen, die Gesetze und die bei jedem traditionellen
16Verfassungen aufzulösen, auch der König Ptolemaios in Übereinstimmung
17mit der Haltung seiner Vorfahren und der seiner Schwester in öffentlicher Weise
18bemüht ist um die gemeinsame Freiheit der Griechen, und
19auch das Volk der Athener ein Bündnis mit ihm eingegangen ist und
20beschlossen hat, auch die übrigen Griechen um dieselben Einstellung
21zu bitten; in gleicher Weise auch die Lakedaimonier, Freunde und
22Bundesgenossen des Königs Ptolemaios, mit dem Volk der
23Athener ein Bündnis beschlossen haben zusammen mit den Eleiern
24und Achaiern und Tegeaten und Mantineiern und Orchomeniern und
25Phigaleiern und Kaphyeern und Kretern, die im Bündnis
26mit den Lakedaimoniern und mit Areus und den übrigen Bundesgenossen

92schwören auch die anderen Städte, und zwar die (jeweiligen) Archonten. Wenn
93den Lakedaimoniern und den Bundesgenossen und den Athenern
94es besser scheint, etwas hinzuzufügen oder zu streichen an dem
95Bündnisvertrag, soll, was beide beschließen, eidgemäß gelten; dass man den
96Bündnisvertrag aufzeichne auf Stelen aus Bronze und aufstelle im Heiligtum,

7Chremonides son of Eteokles of Aithalidai proposed: since
8in earlier times the Athenians and Spartans and the allies
9of each made a common friendship and alliance
10with each other and contested many noble struggles
11alongside one another against those attempting to enslave their cities,
12from which they both obtained glory for themselves and won
13freedom for the other Greeks; and now when a similar
14emergency has gripped all of Greece because of those attempting
15the destuction of both the laws and the traditional constitutions
16of each, king Ptolemaios in accordance with the
17predilection both of his ancestors and of his sister is manifest
18in his concern for the common freedom of the Greeks,
19the Athenian People having made an alliance with him and
20voted to encourage the rest of the Greeks to make the same
21choice, and in the same way the Spartans, being already friends and
22allies of king Ptolemaios and to the Athenian
23People, have voted for an alliance with the Elians
24and Achaians and Tegeans and Mantineans and Orchomenians and
25Phialians and Kaphyans and as many of the Cretans who are in the alliance
26with the Spartans and Areus and the other allies,
27and have despatched ambassadors from the meeting of delegates to the People,
28who, being now in attendance as their representatives, point out the love of honour
29that both the Spartans and Areus, and other allies,
30have for the People, and have come here to deliver the agreement
31concerning the alliance; in order, therefore, that, there being collective unanimity
32among the Greeks against those who now have wronged us and who have broken
33their truces with the cities, they might be enthusiastic champions with
34king Ptolemaios and eachother, and for the rest of time might
35save the cities through their unanimity, for good fortune, the People shall
